Welcome to Los Gatos

A prestigious community rich in art, culture, history, and nature

Los Gatos is steeped in history. It’s one of the county’s oldest communities, dating back to 1840 when it was ranchland. When the railroad came in 1877, the town became a vacation destination for San Francisco’s elite. Its location, between Santa Clara Valley and the Santa Cruz Mountains, proved convenient. Today, Los Gatos is home to Silicon Valley’s elite and other technology professionals who want to live outside the usual technology hubs; the city remains popular with weekend vacationers from all over California.

Los Gatos has much to offer, including prestigious neighborhoods, beautiful natural scenery, endless outdoor recreation, and an upscale lifestyle. It boasts over 300 days of sunshine a year. Old Town Los Gatos is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places and features many well-preserved or restored buildings. It’s walkable and full of charming storefronts and quaint eateries, most of which are locally-owned businesses.
